NATO Q & A

789 posts in this topic

So it appears there are a lot of unanswered questions about NATO and this is spilling over the forums, so we figured we would make a location where you can ask the members of NATO the questions you may have since the return.

This is that thread, this however is not a thread for any hate speech, if you have legitimate questions then please go ahead.

The last time we did this there was a mix of valid questions and a lot of complaints, let me make something clear, legitimate complaints are to be sent to the officers of NATO, not posted here.

Let the questions commence!

Why are NATO back? Just thought I would start out with the baiscs

This is a hard question to answer. The NATO unit has a long time had the same core and afther multiple months most of us got burnt out and became semi active or inactive. To remedy this we lowered our recruitment standard and ended up mass recruiting to fill both servers and had a decline in quality as we didn't have time to train so many new players and get them to the standard we wanted. Many members wanted to try out rebel life as rebel life at the time was somewhat dead and that ended up in the creating of the gangs CSAT and Spetsnaz. After this happened it was clear to see that the police was strugling to coop with this change.

Most of the former officers came togheter and agreed to try again after our little vecation so we decided to reform the force with a focus on roleplay and peackeeping. So far we are trying to balance peacekeeping and "hunting" rebels with a emphasis on the former. Saying this when it comes to late nigth we will focus on stopping illeagal farming as there is next to no cops online.

country to popular belief NATO was not removed because it killed rebel life or for being too op but rather because we the officers did not like the direction it was heading in and the fact that we where burnt out with no one to take over the force.

Hi, is there going to be a new handbook and will it be open for the public to read?

Our old handbook need some tuning on regulations (especially greenzone anti air and Wipeout A-164 usage) and some note on equipment and peacekeeping. The handbook will be public but our restrictions will most likely be kept internal to avoid drama. If you want to a link to our old handbook PM me.

the restrictions is maybe something to make publice because that make's the drama on the forum

what do you think about a overkill off bleufor on peaktimes ? (because rebels dont even bother 2 do runs on peaktimes)

If they posted their restrictions on weapons/vehicles to the public, every time someone saw them with something beyond the restrictions there would be drama.. Probably best to keep it private

I belive that it's hard to balance the number of cops at peak times as it can very a lot from day to day. One day you can have 20 bluefor on both servers and another day you can have the cops stacking every slot on server 1 and only 4 cops on server 2. There is also the problem with most gangs going to server 2 and server 1 filling up with hobos. Other days there will only be 10 cops on in total so it's hard to balance. I try to keep NATO on server 2 if server 1 gets "stacked".

I belive it's bad to stack bluefor on one server when in an ideal world we would have the same numbers on both servers.

When NATO starts to recruit people, will there be more restrictions on who joins? (Quality of apps, training, stuff like that)

What made you decide that NATO would be a good faction for the Server?

So most of the former NATO members played a good while as rebels in a very powerful rebel gangs. They got to know something about the hierarchy, they fought against BLUEFOR and other rebels. They lost some and they won some. They certainly experienced the rebel life in its full glory by doing runs, getting intercepted and role playing with hostages for example.

Is there anything useful that you guys learned about rebel life that could be put in practice now that NATO is back again?

Can NATO access the Wipeout, if so, what are the restrictions?

When are NATO allowed to bring out striders, and why do they always execute when they kill (cops are only allowed when you think they dead guy is giving info, they do abuse it though..)

last one > if NATO really is here to bring RP, what is the point of Titan launching people in greenzones?

It adds no RP, not fair for anyone and seemingly is only fun for the guy shooting the heli down...

The wipeout is available to people who rank lieutenant and above. It's not explicitly stated in the handbook, but like the armed ghosthawk we only use it against air, and very rarely do we actually take one out.

To my memory we haven't used it since last autumn.

we can take out striders if we feel like it is needed. altough personally, i try to limit it abit,  lately, its been mostly used at banks only. and no, we do not always execute when we kill, if they are blocking a way, or giving out info then yes.

According to the handbook we are allowed to patrol with MRAPS if deemed necessary. In reality though we only take it out to combat rebel MRAPS, and when we are heavily outmanned(Big bank ops, large convoys, etc...).

well, greenzones are not to be flown in, there is a reason people get the message when they enter the greenzone, and you are not exactly creating a rp situation when you enter a greenzone with a heli. it creates chaos in kavala, when people are flying right above the croud in kavala square, and it makes a mess.

The titan is there to stop people from trolling around in the greenzones as a helicopter is very loud and some people have a bad tendency to troll with it. Giving NATO the titan was the choosen solution to the problem instead of making it against the rules to do so. If you are flying high (500m+) and just passing through the zone you will most likely not be shot down without a warning. If you do then send me a message and we will sort it out. The period where NATO was gone this was already becoming a problem again.

When it comes too oil, if you are lazy enough to go and land a heli at the trader over using a truck you only have yourself to blame if your taru gets shot down. Of course it sucks being shot down in your taru but thats what keeps the economy rolling.

we do still have the basic UAV drone with thermal. but it is rarely being used, only for banks if the police do not have a hellcat, and even then, not even always.

Yes, the gear for rebels is very expensive, so if I see you with illegal gun and I see that you try to rp it out good I won't take it from you.
