  1. Looking for new talents Being a part of Grand Theft ArmA development team Grand Theft ArmA is expanding its development team with new opening positions allowing members to get involved. The Grand Theft ArmA project has grown a lot and until now we've kept most development in-house (staff members only), but with some of the upcoming plans for 2017 we'll need more hands to put our ideas into reality. It is expected that any applicant functions well within a team, that means being able to handle critic and constructive feedback so all the finished products we release matches the already high standards. There will also be some deadlines that have to be met, but the daily workflow is not expected to be many hours or anything like that, it's not considered a job more like a hobby. The perks of being involved with the development team is obviously inside news on upcoming projects and also being able to have some influence on the projects, where you'll get to work with a team that has professionalism and also fun at times. You'll most likely be able to expand your knowledge within certain areas and even acquire whole new talents that can be used later in life. This is a perfect opportunity to give to the community and gain experience at the same time. These positions are currently open and we're very keen on having them filled as soon as possible: Full stack developer Texture artist We're also interested in hearing from people that have other talents that aren't listed above as we're always looking to expand. Please be aware that ArmA scripting/in-game development has very high standards and we're not planning to expand on this front (exceptions can be made for exceptional applications, but please don't expect anything). Most cases the new developers will be working on a closed development environment that doesn't contain anything but whatever is needed for the given task. Further down the line some developers might gain more access to some projects and that might even involve signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement beforehand. Full Stack Developer As a Full stack developer here on Grand Theft ArmA, you'll be focusing on improving, designing and add new features to our current website infrastructure. Next to our current infrastructure you'll be part of a team focusing on the newest and latest projects. Skills & requirements: Experience with PHP 5.x / 7+. Experience with HTML(5), CSS(3) and Bootstrap. Experience with JavaScript. Experience with MySQL or relational databases (MariaDB). Experience with (3rd Party) API Services. Experience with Git or equivalent. Texture artist As a Texture artist here on Grand Theft ArmA you'll be working alongside the in-game development team where textures will be required for some future projects. This position will grant you some inside information which you'll have to keep to yourself. We already have a lot of textures in-game, where we've aimed towards the perfect middle-ground between quality and file size, so we can get the absolute best quality without pushing the mission file too much. Skills & requirements: Experience with textures (Doesn't necessarily have to be ArmA). Able to deliver a high-quality final product that doesn't take up too much size. Able to think out of the box and be creative for some textures. Where do I apply? The application form is handled through the forums where you fill it out, tell us something about yourself and the expertise that you want to put to use. We don't have any plans on closing this form, we just want to get as many good applicants as possible and then whenever we get a really outstanding application that's fitting for one of the empty roles we'll reach out. Submit a Development Team Application
  2. Dispute an Issue We understand that rule breaks can diminish your experience on our server and as a staff team we take them very seriously, we do our best to remove the toxic players from our community to maintain the high standards you all expect. With this in mind, we are finding that players are reporting other players without trying to contact them to resolve the issue first. We are a community and should work together to keep any and all players within the rules, this does not mean that players shouldn't be punished for their wrongdoings but in most cases these issues could be resolved with a short chat between the two parties. We are introducing a new method of resolving these issues in-game which will be called "Dispute". This new feature can be found in the Y menu, you can select a player you wish to talk to then they will receive a pre-written message explaining that you would like to discuss an issue with them. We hope that this will help build bridges between the players and you will opt to use this feature to discuss the rule breaks or issues between yourselves before heading over to the forums. You should use this when you want to discuss an issue or problem with another party, this way you can get both sides of the story before jumping to conclusions or reporting them without having all the information. We will be checking if you have used this feature before we accept a report to ensure you are attempting to resolve issues yourself, though we understand in all situations this may not be possible. Working together the community and the staff team can keep this community a fun and clean place to play. Thank you, The Staff Team.
  3. Good evening everyone! As you all know Christmas and New Year is around the corner, like all of you we here at the Grand Theft ArmA staff team we also have families and friends to spend time with during the holidays, that means we won't be able to devote as much time as we usually do in the community during this time. We do hope that you will respect and remember this whenever you run into issues and are in the need of help. The average forum support response time is also expected to be slower than usually, so please bare with us during this time. You will not go in to the holidays empty handed though, the annual Santa Claus treasure hunt will go live tonight where nice rewards will be given out as usually (a changelog with all the details will be posted later). There will most likely also be some "human" hosted events by staff members that involves rewards as a new rare teamspeak tag. We wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy New Year and look forward to the adventures that 2017 will bring to Grand Theft ArmA! - The Grand Theft ArmA Staff team
  4. Manually Updating Mission Files We previously had a public Dropbox folder which was used to upload updated mission files automatically so users that have trouble downloading the mission file in-game can download the mission files via their browser and update them manually to avoid said issues. As of today we've ditched Dropbox in favour of Google Drive for stability reasons. Grand Theft ArmA - Mission Files: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8j-xMQtDZvwVjN6R25sWF94dG8 https://grandtheftarma.com/mission Mission File Installation Each server has its own set of mission files. In the Google Driver folder linked above you'll notice that each mission files is prefixed with "s1" for server 1, "s2" for server 2 etc. There are also mission files specific to each map (Altis and Tanoa). You can either download all of the files in the folder and install them or choose the files specific to what server and map you will be playing on. Download the mission file(s) from the Google Drive folder Locate your ArmA 3 multiplayer mission cache folder (MPMissionsCache) here: C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Arma 3\MPMissionsCache Move the mission file(s) you downloaded in step 1 into the MPMissionCache folder and join the server. Make sure to close ArmA 3 if you are experiencing issues with replacing any existing files. You can now join the server and skip the in-game download process as you've updated the files manually.
  5. Greetings everyone. First of all it has been some time since I have made an official announcement, so please be gentle. I'll be going over our plans for Apex & Tanoa, as well as shedding some more light on the ever elusive new framework that some of you may of heard whispers of. Apex & Tanoa With the release of Apex looming, the question of whether the citizens of Altis will be enjoying the tropical island of Tanoa is a predominant one among many of you. The answer to this question is simply, yes. We'll be working on Tanoa life for all owners of Apex to enjoy upon release (11th of July). Tanoa is 100 km² of South Pacific island archipelago that really fits "life" perfectly. The island is very colourful and is filled with many detailed towns, cities and locations that haven't been decayed by civil war, unlike Altis. With the release of Apex comes a decent amount of new assets including new clothing, weapons and vehicles. I won't unfortunately be able to give you too much detail regarding what assets will be made available to our players at this time, rest assured it is being discussed by the senior staff team. On our current framework, the database between Altis and Tanoa will be linked, so your money, vehicles, perks, experience and inventory will be shared. Housing on Tanoa will be non existent. The reason for no housing is a technical one, and while it can be overcome I'd rather spend my time developing the new framework. Details as to the locations of things such as resources, spawn locations etc will be announced closer to the release date of Apex. @LSK has been working hard on porting over our current version of Altis life to Tanoa, so be sure to thank him when you get the chance. As for how many servers we will be running on Tanoa, this is very much dependent on the community. We'll start with 1 server and if Tanoa proves itself popular among our community, we will of course accommodate. New Framework So.... The new framework is something I've been developing both actively and inactively over the past year. The framework itself has been through roughly 4 redesigns and every detail has been subject to my intense scrutiny. I have a high standard when it comes to quality as many of you may know which has of course taken its toll on time. It's a work ethic that many of you will appreciate upon release I'm sure. To clear a few things up, the new framework has been coded and designed from the ground up. Nothing from the old framework (current mission) will be migrated that hasn't already been imported from the new framework (view settings for example). It's a foundation that is easy to build upon later, allowing me to implement cool new features easily. As well as being a superb foundation, the new framework is also focused on optimising server and client performance. I've been reluctant to release details due to certain other "developers" and communities who brazenly steal my work and credit themselves, but I think it's time to lift the curtain slightly. Here are a few details I'm willing to share at this point: Skills One of the larger new features that will be available from day 1. Skills represent actions that can be taken in game such as gathering, processing or driving. Skills are based on an experience system unique to each skill ranging from level 1 to 100. Leveling up skills will unlock the ability to gather new resources, access bigger and better vehicles and buy more powerful weapons (some examples). Some skills such as gathering have a passive effect that will increase your gathering proficiency depending on your level. The XP and level system as you know it is gone. Instead, all of your skill levels will be combined to make up your total player level. Your player level will determine how many perk points are available for you to spend. Here's a screenshot of the Skills UI (the skills listed may not be final). It should give you a better feel for the system, as well as showing that I'm dope at chemistry. Groups (previously known as Gangs) Players will have the ability to create groups for free. Groups will have a member cap of 20 (including offline players). When a player is invited to a group that has over 10 members, a fee must be paid by the player being invited. Groups will have 3 member permission levels: Member, Officer and Leader. Renaming "Gangs" to "Groups" made sense for many reasons, including RP. Player positions will now be persistent. Whenever a player logs off, their position is saved. Upon logging back in, the player will be spawned in the closest major town to their previous position. Upon dying or being new to the island, the player will be presented with a spawn selection screen. All major towns that a player can be automatically spawned at will have a vehicle garage of some kind available. Data between islands will be partially linked. Vehicles and inventory items will be island specific. Skills, cash/bank, groups and permissions (Police rank, NHS rank etc) will be persistent between islands. Having a partial link will allow each island (Altis and Tanoa) to be balanced separately, as well as having island specific content such as gathering resources. Every player will start from square one. No data between the old framework and the new framework will be migrated. This is primarily due to balancing reasons as the economy in the new framework will be far less inflated. Starting fresh is the only true way to experience the new framework's new activities and progression system. My plans to release the new framework are still up in the air, but there will be a public playtest available to Donators, Lifetime Donators, Contributors and Patreons (as a small thank you for supporting our server) in the next month or two hopefully. When all the basic systems have been thoroughly tested and are considered stable, the new framework will pushed to all of our live servers. From that point, focus on new features and activities will begin. I hope this announcement has put most of your questions to rest and quenched a little of your thirst for details regarding the new framework. Grand Theft ArmA stands as the largest ArmA roleplay community in the UK and Europe, and all of this is possible due to our community's amazing support and dedication. We have a lot to look forward to in the near future, and I'm looking forward to sharing more details with you when they're ready.
  6. Grand Theft ArmA Wiki Hello people of Grand Theft ArmA! As you all know, we have a Guide on the website, but sadly it hasn’t been updated a lot recently and whenever it’s being updated, it’s usually because members of the community push us to do so by contributing with finished texts. The idea of the community helping by contributing towards the guide, is something that we like a lot, not to mention that the perspective some of these texts will be put are better coming from a player instead of an admin that sometimes doesn’t have much time play the servers himself. So we’ve wanted to take that to the next level for a while and completely replace the guide with a community driven Wiki page, that will be handled by some chosen editors and even a Wiki project lead, which will be in charge of the structure and everything that comes with it. Before we actually launch the project officially, I would love to see if there’s an actual interest for it, if people think that a well written GTA Wiki will be a better alternative than the guide and if there’s people willing to contribute by running it. My idea is that the people taking part in the project by contributing will be given a unique forum tag/group, with special permissions to their own forum and more which will work as a work space for them, besides that I’ll also be willing to throw some Teamspeak tags and even a little Editors HQs with sub channels on Teamspeak somewhere, where you can have meetings and more. I’ve included a poll in the top of this thread, where you can vote on your opinion on this whole Wiki page, if it’s actually a better alternative. If you aren’t familiar with Wiki’s and want a well put example then I’d recommend checking this one out: http://terraria.gamepedia.com/Terraria_Wiki I’ve enabled my PM's on the forums as well for now, if someone has an interest in taking charge of this project, where you’ll be able to send me an “application” explaining why it should be you (it's a very big plus if you have any kind of experience with handling Wiki pages). The Wiki project lead will be in charge of the structure and even recruitment of editors, it’ll be a respectable role with a direct line to higher up staff members. Looking forward to seeing what we can all come up with together. - The Staff Team
  7. Legality of the Qilin LSV Some of you may be aware of the recent changes on the server regarding the Qilin, these were posted in the changelog late last night. This is just a quick announcement explaining some of these changes. The Unarmed Qilin This vehicle was seeing very little use within Altis which we believe is primarily due to it being an illegal vehicle and players not wanting to risk losing it from both blufor and the rebel factions. To help resolve this issue we have decided to make this vehicle legal on Altis, meaning that provided you are not using it to break the law, police and NATO will not intervene if you are seen driving one. These are great vehicles for both onroad and offroad, they have seats for 7 meaning you can take a large amount of friends along with you. They have a max speed of 160km/h and a carry capacity of 50 and can be bought from the rebel outpost for £675,000. We hope to see more use of these vehicles within Altis but before you buy one remember you must have the Tanoa DLC to use it. It is against server rules to use these inside a greenzone: 5.3: Armed Offroads, Ifrits, Unarmed Qilins and Armed Qilins are not allowed inside the green zones. An exception to this rule will be if you are chasing somebody with an Ifrit or Unarmed Qilin into the green zone from an ongoing situation which has started at least 1.5km away from the green zone. This exception does not apply to the Armed Qilin or Armed Offroad. The Armed Qilin Alongside the change with the unarmed version we have decided to also add the armed Qilin onto the servers. These are exactly the same as the unarmed version with the addition of a .50 cal machine gun mounted in the gunner seat, this gun has a 100 round belt and can make short work of vehicles and players alike. Along side this, these vehicles have no carry capacity. These share the same rule set of the .50 cal offroad. These are not allowed within greenzones under any circumstances, they are illegal to drive and the gunner may be shot by blufor without initiation. These can be bought from the rebel outpost for £2,000,000 but require advanced rebel to own. Conclusion These changes were implemented last night meaning they are already on the server, this will hopefully answer any questions you may have regarding the vehicles but if you do have any queries or questions please add the to this thread and we will try to answer them as soon as possible Many thanks, The staff team.
  8. 1st Person - Trial #3 At 12pm today we'll be trailing forced 1st person on our servers with a few changes made to how it's worked in the past. For those of you that aren't aware of how we trialled this previously: Trial #1 Was pretty straight forward the first time around, we straight up disallowed 3rd person anywhere and everywhere except green zones. It was clear after not too long that this wasn't really a solution that many people like so it was removed fairly quickly. The most consistent feedback we received was regarding lack of 3rd person when driving which made it difficult to drive effectively. Trial #2 Taking into account the feedback from the first trial, changes were made so 3rd person was only allowed if you were driving a vehicle. The change was a positive one for the majority although issues still remained. The main concerns that the community had during this trial were: Motion sickness when performing actions such as gathering and processing. This was mainly due to the animations that were used at the time when performing an action. People liked to view their characters in 3rd person especially when role-playing. A New Trial So after taking feedback from the previous trials into consideration I've prepared a new set of limitations regarding 1st/3rd person view that we'd like to trial on our servers. So here's how it's going to work this time around: If a player has a weapon equipped, 3rd person will not be available. If you holster your weapon, you must wait 30 seconds before being able to access 3rd person view again. 3rd person will be available if you are driving a vehicle. Why are we doing this? While we are a roleplay server at heart, combat is also a large part of our community. Almost everyone loves a good firefight which is nothing to be ashamed of, this is ArmA after all. With that being said however, it's no secret that 3rd person in a combat orientated situation provides an unfair and stale experience if you're on the wrong side of it. This is exactly why popular games such as Battlefield, Call of Duty, Counter Strike don't allow 3rd person. With the changes proposed above for our new trial are a compromise so that we can hopefully provide great experiences for both the roleplay and combat aspects of our server. How long will the new trial last? There's no set time or date when the trial will end. We're going to see how it goes and gather as much feedback as we can. Depending on the feedback we receive we'll see if changes can be made to accommodate any concerns. Ultimately however if it's not viable with the new changes, then we'll put an end to the trial. Conclusion Moving forward we'll be using this thread for feedback, so if you have any positive or negative feedback then feel free to provide it in a constructive manner here. Also feel free to message any senior admin directly with your feedback. I'll also be hosting a community on Teamspeak meeting at 12pm UK time today to address any immediate questions and concerns regarding the changes. - DnA
  9. Field of View (FoV) ArmA 3's default field of view is 70 and for many players this is too little and can be quite restrictive in 1st person. Unfortunately ArmA 3 doesn't have an in-game setting to adjust this, there is however a 3rd party tool (which is safe to use) that will allow you to adjust your field of view to whatever value you desire. Download: ArmA FOV Changer I strongly recommend you read the installation instructions very carefully. For those wondering what they should set their vertical FoV to I suggest you start by setting it to 90 and increasing or decreasing it from there depending on how happy you are with the results. In-Game Settings These settings are fairly crucial in my opinion and should make 1st person a lot more comfortable for those who may not be used to it. Game Options Press Escape In-Game > Options > Game Set the Head Bob slider to 0. Video Options Press Escape In-Game > Options > Video > AA & PP Set Radial Blur slider to 0. Set the Rotation Blur slider to 0. Press Escape In-Game > Options > Video > General Disable PIP (Picture in Picture). PIP allows for things like mirrors and camera screens to be rendered dynamically in game. Mirrors and screens inside of vehicles are only rendered in 1st person and while it is a very cool feature, it's extremely taxing and will result in large FPS drops for some players.
  10. Hi all, Just a very brief announcement letting everyone know TeamSpeak will be down for around five minutes at 8PM GMT time. During this time we will be doing a critical update to the TeamSpeak server. If for any reason the update takes longer than planned we will continue to update you all via this thread. Sorry for any inconveniences.

Staff Applications The Grand Theft Arma staff team is looking to expand again! We are looking for approximately two to three people to help us improve our community and increase our quality of support. This number may be higher or lower depending on the quality of applications, we will start the expanding of our team by appointing supports (forum moderators). This position has the ability for you to climb to an in-game moderator as well as the possibility to become an admin. So consider the support rank as the initial basic level and you will have to work your way up and prove your worth which will enable you will end up moving up in the ranks. Expectations What we expect from a Support: Moderating post that contain foul or offensive language. Spam posts, double post, unnecessary bumped post. Moving posts into the proper sections/categories. Helping people with questions, bug reports etc. Dealing with compensation requests, reports and the odd unban request. As well as helping to moderator the teamspeak and assisting with the Waiting For Help. Requirements We have the following requirements for the Forum Moderator position: You have to be active on the forum. You have to be a member of this community for at least 1 month. We expect you to be at least 18 years old. (Exceptions can be made). Fluent within the English Language. Ability to handle situations from an neutral perspective (Do not be bias towards friends or enemies). Basic understanding of the forums (It's very simple and you will be taken through it). Template There is no template, we are not expecting you to write thousands of words but just do some freelance writing telling us about yourself and why you would make a good staff member. At the very least put some time and effect into the application, previously we have received very short applications with little or not effort put into them and these applications will be ignored on this round. To apply please use this link HERE and apply via our google document, it's the same as before although this just makes it easier for us to track. This will most likely be up for between 4 days - 7 days depending on the quality of the applicants and their applications and will take a further week before you receive your replies. Thank you for wanting to help us improve our community and I hope to see some good application.
  12. This act states the new citizens of altis, will be protected by the government whilst earning their first wage in Altis. People with the Rebel licence or Advanced Rebel licence caught robbing copper, rice, cement or sugar will be fired upon or killed by government members without initiation. This includes the mines, fields, processors or traders. As rebels you have amassed enough money to keep yourself comfortable on Altis so you shouldn't have a need to pummel new members into the ground. We here at GrandTheftArma understand the fun in robbing people, but currently we are seeing too many heavily armed rebel gangs come in force to attack new players who are yet to fully experience the game. It is only the first four licences which are protected so people can get onto their feet. This only accounts for new players on the server which means that experienced players can still be robbed whilst doing these runs. Players without the rebel licence can still rob these licences, and it is not a bannable offense to rob new players but they are now protected. Government officials are Staff members in this situation. For those looking for an action replay of what occured next

Website Upgrade. Hi all, Today we have upgraded the forum to a newer version, due to various changes in the new version the theme has had to be completely redone. While the forum may look similar to the old theme we've tweaked it for performance and easy customization for future events. Some of the main new features include: Option to toggle colour or greyscale background. Dedicated page for server information. Activity stream, easy way to view new content on the forum. Due to having to recreate the entire theme the team has spent a good amount of time bug hunting for various issues for them to be resolved for launch, as of this moment every issue we have found has been fixed or addressed. Many things were changed within the theme from tiny parts of the CSS to button tweaks, the site font and various colours or images. Let us know by posting below if you have any issues, concerns or recommendations so we can look into it as soon as possible. Thanks for reading, - The staff team.
  14. Tonight the website will go through a maintenance, where we'll be upgrading the forums. The maintenance is scheduled for 10pm server time tonight and it's expected to take us up to 1-2 hours before it'll be open for public again. We'll be giving a short warning on Teamspeak before we take it down, to prevent any content loss. Expect an in-depth announcement later after the maintenance.

After much deliberation over the past few days among the staff team the decision to forcefully disband Camorra has been made. None of the players are being community banned as of yet (dependent on their actions now). There are a few reasons why they are being disbanded, firstly last week we had a large meeting with both N.L and Camorra regarding their actions on the server and given warnings for their actions. After additional warnings they still have refused to change their actions and continued to value combat and completely disregard RP, the most recent of such is baiting bluefor initation via picklocking vehicles. This was our last resort and it's unfortunate that we had to take it but at the end of the day Camorra made their bed and they are now forced to lie in it.

So this morning I have woken up to messages informing me of that somebody during the 8 am restart has decided to log in under the name '[eZ] Max Carver' and began to start mass killing people with Rook-40s and GM6 Lynx. I can't tell exactly but I can see that roughly 10-11 people were affected by this and if you want to send me a personal message i'll get you compensated and everything resolved for you. (No need for a recording or to make a compensation request) After a little bit of investigation into the logs we were able to find the culprit and they have now been dealt with and banned from the server. In future if you see anybody with the name Max Carver or any other staff name and they are seemingly breaking and disregarding the rules then please check firstly teamspeak and double check they are online. If you do not see them on teamspeak then either check your steam friends list, if they do not appear on either then contact a member of staff as soon as possible and they will fix the situation. Just for anybody that isn't 'convinced', here are two screenshots showing that it couldn't have been me. Firstly if you have had me on steam you would have seen I only recently logged in and at the time was offline: Secondly I haven't actually logged into the server since 12:52 last night: Sorry for the confusion caused, Max

Expectations What we expect from a Support: Moderating post that contain foul or offensive language.Spam posts, double post, unnecessary bumped post.Moving posts into the proper sections/categories.Helping people with questions, bug reports etc.Dealing with compensation requests, reports and the odd unban request. As well as helping to moderator the teamspeak and assisting with the Waiting For Help.Requirements We have the following requirements for the Forum Moderator position: You have to be active on the forum. You have to be a member of this community for at least 1 month. We expect you to be at least 18 years old. At the very least put some time and effect into the application, previously we have received very short applications with little or not effort put into them and these applications will be ignored on this round. To apply send me a message. This will most likely be up for between 4 days - 7 days depending on the quality of the applicants and their applications and will take a further week before you receive your replies. Thank you for wanting to help us improve our community and I hope to see some good application.

NATO has reached an agreement with the Government of Altis for an expanded military presence months after forces stationed on the island were forced out. Back in October NATO forces left the island due to pressing issues within Altis’s neighbouring island, Stratis. After long talks with the Government of Altis they have agreed to return as a peacekeeping force once again. NATO’s primary mandate within Altis to maintain order within the island and will spend less resources chasing rebels and attacking primary rebels locations, but will instead focus on keeping the innocent civilians of Altis safe and slowing the rebel forces attacking civilians. This is not to say that NATO forces will not be attacking known rebel locations but it will be a low priority for them. NATO forces are broadly expected to conduct joint exercises with the Altis Police Constabulary, ranging from disaster response, security and overall peacekeeping. Recruitment within NATO is currently restricted as to maintain the best possible force for the task at hand, though once NATO has settled on the island and the infrastructure is stable, NATO will be looking to the citizens of Altis for more members. When this time comes, a public announcement will be made. - Colonel DnA

THE NEW RULES - FEEDBACK Hi all, After a year and a half we have decided to rework all of the current rules, this includes all sections from 1.0 to 12.3. Over time we have received various feedback being good and bad regarding the current state of the rules. After receiving a fair amount of feedback from the community we have complied it together then redone or reworded what we as staff and you as players think it should state. The new rules are still in progress but we feel the time has come to ask the community to evaluate what we have changed! For now, the new work in progress rules will be given out to chosen people, meaning that they are not meant to be evaluated by every single member of GTA. The new rules are not a secret so you can talk to friends and other players regarding them for general feedback but we are trying to avoid confusion with the current rules, so please keep in mind that these are not official and are not enforced on any servers yet, the old rules are still the ones that counts, until these new ones have been given a green light. We would like the feedback of well established members that have been around for a while, including rebel representatives and high ranking police. This will allow us to see what you agree or disagree with and get general feedback we can use to improve them. If you would like to take part in giving some feedback and you are either a well established member, high ranking police officer or a rebel representative then please either message myself on the forums or Teamspeak. Please keep in mind if you request for access we will expect some form of feedback good or bad, so you can talk to the people you play with such as friends or gangs and tell us what everyone thinks! More information will be given upon message such as how to pass along feedback.
  21. Hello, As Christmas and New Year is closing in on us, here at Grand Theft ArmA we also have families to attend to and some relaxing is also needed. This means that during the Christmas period up until New Year's Eve there will be a decreased response time from our staff team. We hope you respect and understand this and that we do our best to fix your problems as fast as we can. The Grand Theft Arma staff team wishes you a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year. We look forward to another great year with you all in 2016!
  22. Hi all, We have just released our Christmas event for 2015! We are aware there are many questions so hopefully this thread might be able to help. Santa will randomly generate anywhere on Altis with his bag of goodies for all to enjoy. When you first login to the server if the event has already started you will be greeted with a message from Santa himself indicating the event has started, if you are in-game when the event starts you will receive the same message. Once the event has started a pink circle will appear and Santa will randomly spawn anywhere inside the circle excluding in the water or buildings. The first person to find Santa and select the claim reward option will receive a random gift at chance. The prizes and chances of winning said prize will be listed below. Questions and answers: Q: Will the event be on both server 1 and server 2?A: Yes the event will be on both servers. Q: Do I have to attend the event?A: No of course not! It's completely optional. Q: Can I play as a cop, medic or HATO member?A: All factions are able to take part in the event! If you win a prize make sure to take a screenshot or record the event just in case you've been a naughty boy this year and something happens such as your ArmA crashes. Q: When does the event start?A: The event will start 10 minutes after the servers come online from restart, when Santa if found he will disappear for 20 minutes before returning at another random location. Q: Can I shoot people inside the zone or claiming the reward?A: NORMAL rules apply inside the pink zone so initiation is still needed, you can NOT initiate or kill people claiming the reward from Santa. Q: Can Santa spawn in buildings or the ocean?A: No he will not spawn in any building or on any water. Santa will also spawn in a completely random location. Q: Can I sling load a vehicle using a helicopter to use as an advantage.A: No. People caught cheating will receive a ban from both game servers. Q: Where can I find Santa?A: At a random point inside the pink circle on the map. Q: Can I soft log for the event?A: No you cannot. Q: Can I ask an admin to trade items or vehicles?A: No. Q: Can I use a helicopter at all during the event?A: NO! If you do you will lose your helicopter. If your online as blurfor or opfor in a helicopter you will receive a ban.More information will be added to this thread as time progresses. The change log with all information regarding the event will be posted below. Changelog: Added: A new and exciting event for Christmas, The Hunt for Santa Claus. The event is completely automated and dynamic that is repeated: After 10 minutes of the server starting, the event will begin. An in game message will be sent to all players will instructions on how to find Santa Claus. Once Santa Claus has been found, a scroll option to claim your present should be available. When the present has been claimed, Santa will vanish for 5 minute and relocate and the hunt will begin once again. Presents are random and are determined by random chance: 2% chance for a GM6 Lynx. 3% chance for a Red VR Suit. 4% chance for a Taru Cargo. 5% chance for a Strider. 6% chance for £8,000,000 cash. 8% chance for a themed Sports Hatchback (Monster Rally, Redbull Rally, Dominos, KFC and WRC). 10% chance for £4,000,000 in game cash. 15% chance for a HEMTT Box. 18% chance for a TWS Scope. 22% chance for a Redbull Zamack. 25% chance for a Jurassic Park SUV. If all else fails, you will be given between 10 and 20 XP Rewards (usable items, each item grants 500xp). Santa has had many years of practice staying hidden. Because of this, Santa will be completely invisible to the naked eye from players who are in of any kind of air vehicle (helicopters or jets). Changed: KFC free weekend has finally come to an end. Changed: Stun Guns now add fatigue relative to the targets body part hit. Fixed: An issue preventing players who have their weapon deployed from being tasered or stunned. Fixed: An issue preventing the Stun Gun from working correctly.

Recently there seems to be a new trend that has been spreading in-game. This trend is not something we want in our community, we are referring to the going out of RP with the double forward slashes (//). We don’t want this to develop and continue to ruin various RP scenarios that are happening on the server. If the trend continues we feel it will take away the concept of role playing. In the middle of role-play or any situation present this is no longer permitted in-game, if you wish to contact someone requiring to talk to them on Teamspeak either use sidechat for rebels and civilians or send them a private message. When it comes to blufor they will be on Teamspeak when playing in-game so it should be relatively easy to contact them. We have discussed some countermeasures for this problem, and the first solution is that we are simply going to kick you if you get caught within the first two weeks of this announcement. After this time a short term ban will be placed on your account. We will record all bans placed and if players continue to do this in-game the ban duration will grow over time. This is not an easy change and we appreciate that, we are implementing this to try bring you all a better role-play experience. If you see someone in-game during the first two weeks of this announcement please send either an admin request in-game or contact an admin on Teamspeak. After the two weeks has passed you're free to either message an admin or submit a player report as it will be violating a rule.
  24. Hi all, As you know we have been experiencing some Teamspeak issues and we are working hard to have it all up and running as soon as possible. For the time being can you please post any issue you are having down below so we can work on fixing it as soon as possible. We are expecting to have the Teamspeak back to it's original if not better state within the next few days. We are currently now handing out all server groups again except for the supporter and donator as we are currently working on fixing them. Please keep in mind if you need a faction tag (such as APC) then please contact the higher up in that faction as the staff members are currently very busy. If there is an issue that users can take advantage of then please send me a PM with the issue. Thank you all and sorry for the inconvenience.
  25. Hi all, Just a short update on our current downtime. We are currently experiencing issues with our database server that currently means nobody is able to access either server 1 or server 2. We are in contact with the hosting company trying to restore activity as soon as possible. Due an issue with not being able to access the database server some recent player data cannot currently be accessed at the moment. In order to get the servers back online as soon as possible we have currently restored a recent backup of our database. Please do not post any compensation requests until we have the database server fully running again as we will be able to compare what had already been compensated to what you currently have. We will try keep everyone up to date with what is happening and when the issue has been fully resolved. No data on bans has been lost and all bans in the meantime will remain active. We apologize for the downtime and will try resolve the issue as fast as possible, in the meantime if you have any questions regarding the issue please refrain from contacting head admins and contact another staff member via Teamspeak. UPDATE: Due to hardware failure regarding the hard drive on the database server we are currently unable to restore any data newer than what is currently active on the backup. After evaluating and investigating into the issue we have concluded not much data has actually been lost due to the fact we backup many times per day. We have added a RAID 1 configuration (hard drive backup) to our database server so we won't have this issue in the future. We apologize again for the inconvenience.
